Carolyn S. Heath became our Executive Director on September 8, 2009. Carolyn comes to us from United Bank where she served as the Branch Manager of United Bank in Elmm Grove for the last six years. Carolyn also brings a wealth of knowledge about the trials and tribulations in the life of a visually impaired individual as her daughter has been visually impaired from birth. Carolyn plans to bring all her knowledge and experience to bare as she leads the Seeing Hand Association into the future. Carolybn leads by example and expects her employees to do the same. Carolyn maintains an open door and will consider any project which will benefit the Seeing Hand Association. .
Bob Hicks, a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University, has nine years of experience working directly with the blind and visually impaired in computer access
technology. Bob came to us from the largely unemployed world of the blind and visually impaired. Bob is a graduate of the National Industries of the Blind Business Management Training course given by the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in October 2007. Bob is actively involved in the local chapter and state affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind. Bob coordinates the “Cheerful Bowlers’”
bowling league for the blind and visually impaired and "Camp Independence" our summer camp for youth. Bob facilitates support groups for the blind.
Jack Yahnke is our Shop Supervisor. Jack joined the Seeing Hand staff in November of 2006. Jack comes to us from the field of education. Jack was a high school math teacher and swimming coach locally. Jack is a member of the local National Federation of the Blind chapter. Jack is truelly a "Jack of all trades". Jack does everything around our facility as well as making sure all the people in the shop are as content and productive as possible. Jack takes an active part in bowling, camp and recreation.
Theresa Kurtz is a certified Activities Director with a background in medical services. Theresa joined the staff in May of 2009. Theresa has had extensive experience with diabetics and most of the major maladies which affect our senior citizens. Theresa's main focus with us will be job development and job training. Theresa has already planned some fund raising activities which will be first time events for the Seeing Hand Association.
